Good old traditional steak house with dated decor that brings you back to the 1970s. Even the huge parking lot and restaurant size itself gives you history that this was an old place (in a good way), and it was popular then and popular now. Meals comes with bread and 2 sides. The steak lacked seasoning, but there was sauce on the table. Different flavors of ice cream is the only option for dessert. But I think it was free. Large parking lot, no need to find street parking. Decent prices and portion. Great service. Diverse crowd of local Oregonians. Good for family, dates, events, birthdays, anniversaries, all occasions of this is your vibe.

Saylers is one of those places with excellent service, old steakhouse diner ambiance, and really good food with really good portions - we ordered their onion rings for appetizers and fried chicken dinner, prime rib, and bone in ribeye - the food is delicious - our waitress was super nice, funny, and friendly - I already want to go back and get another bone in ribeye or maybe split the 70oz steak

Came here to feast and it did not disappoint! Ordered their prime rib, which includes a quality onion ring, choice of side, bread, and ice cream! The prime rib was pretty solid (chewy at some points)! Came away stuffed! A slightly casual place with helpful servers! Great place for all occasions! Parking available! Would recommend!

I've heard a lot about Sayler's (although it's mostly been about their 72 oz steak challenge) and I've really wanted to go. Coming here, I did a walk-in and had to wait about 10 minutes before being seated. The interior of the restaurant is a bit older and darker. Service here is nice and fairly quick. I ordered some veggies, onion rings, a salad, seared scallops, and a steak. Everything was pretty good! I wouldn't say that it was outstanding in any way but it was definitely fun andI enjoyed the experience. I would definitely come back with friends sometime!

They don't make places like this anymore. Sayler's has been around for the better part of the last century (#1) and has been one of the city's go-to steak destinations from the local community. They are also home to one of the largest steak challenges with a 72oz monstrosity. Gimmicks aside, this is one of my favorite places to get a no frills steak and I sincerely hope they manage to stick around for a long time. The vibe is undoubtedly old school and the ambiance has a tinge of vintage, complemented by the scores of older clientele on any given day. It's no small place either, as there is plenty of seating, tables, and even parking spaces. Bathrooms are also clean and the place is generally very inviting. Their selection of meats / steaks is some of the best in Portland. From filet mignon to fatty ribeye to top sirloin and porterhouses. I have really enjoyed ribeyes and prime rib the most, I think most of their steaks deserve a little shine. The steak challenge is with their top sirloin and at 72oz, it's a lot of steak. I attempted it during my birthday meal years ago and it reminded me of a head or a bowling ball just made of beef. While I finished the next size down at 40oz relatively easily, I failed miserably with this one. The rules state that once the steak is served, one can finish the plate within 60 minutes. This also includes the sides, such as the vegetables, fries or baked potato. Once I'm done with the meat sweats and am a little hungry, I'll make it a point to come back. They don't just excel in steak, seafood is absolutely within their forté. The sea scallops and lobster tails are lovely and when paired with steak makes for the perfect kind of surf and turf. What's interesting is that no matter what one orders, every meal comes with a "relish tray" that includes salad, bread, entree, side dishes, and ice cream. Their homemade sour cream is stupidly addicting and should be bottled up. I really enjoy the service here. They've always been extra accommodating to my guests and I and they've been super efficient each time. I appreciate the how collectively friendly they are and they play a big part in my wanting to come back every year. I'm already looking forward to my next visit and my next large plate of steak. __________ (#1) Nearly 80 years. That's so impressive.
